Esta caida de ventas significa un retroceso en el decimotercer mes consecutivo, aunque fue bastante inferior al descenso del 30.5% registrado en el mes de Abril.
Los vehículos de compañías extranjeras registraron apenas un 19.3% menos de ventas, en comparación al año anterior, una cifra que sería el equivalente a 11.257 unidades.
Por parte de Volkswagen, si bien la cantidad fue decreciente, lideró las ventas con 2.823 unidades, seguida por BMW con 1.993 coches y ubicándose en tercer lugar aparece Mercedes-Benz, con apenas 1.800 automóviles.
Por su parte, la Asociación de Vendedores de Automóviles de Japón (JADA) emitió un comunicado anunciando que la tercera generación del Toyota Prius fue el coche más vendido de Mayo.
Parece que la reactivación del mercado automotor, entonces, estará enfocándose en el desarrollo y comercialización de coches híbridos.
