Esto está fundamentado en la necesidad imperiosa de cubrir la reserva de 80.000 coches correspondientes al nuevo Toyota Prius, motivo que ha llevado a la industria japonesa a comercializar el modelo 2010 conjuntamente al actual modelo.
De esta manera, se estima que el nivel de ventas solo de este híbrido, alcanzará las 400.000 unidades anuales, algo que claramente ha superado las expectativas de la compañía.
